<cuerpo>-- Rally @ 12 PM, March @ 2 PM -- Boston Common (Beacon St. & Charles St.) --

On October 11th, 2002, Congress passed the "Iraq War Resolution", granting the Bush administration authorization to invade Iraq. Six years later, 1 in 3 Iraqis have been killed, wounded or displaced. Over 4,000 US soldiers have been killed, with tens of thousands more seriously wounded. $1 trillion has been spent on this criminal war.

On October 11th, 2008, join us on the Boston Common to demand:
    * Stop the wars and occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan
    * Bring the troops home now
    * Money for jobs, education, healthcare and housing -- not for war and occupation
    * No sanctions or attack on Iran
    * Stop the racist scapegoating of Arabs and Muslims
    * Stop the assault on civil liberties and human rights

At 2:30 pm in the YWCA's Kuumba Library on the second floor of 140 Clarendon St., the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), Friends of the Congo, and The Center for New Words will hold a screening of "The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo" (Winner of the Special Jury Prize for a Documentary at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival), with discussion of the role of multinational corporations in the Congo, ideas for local community action, and testimony from Jane Ngondo, an activist from the Congo. Then we'll move across Copley Square to join an International Women's Day event honoring revolutionary women leaders and raising funds for the upcoming March on the Pentagon.
